Discover the key to sustainable and responsive funding for high-quality Career Technical Education

Providing high-quality Career Technical Education (CTE) requires robust, sustained funding designed to be responsive to both the rapidly evolving needs of industry and the diverse needs of learners.

This site presents Advance CTE’s 2023 State of Career Technical Education: An Analysis of State Secondary CTE Funding Models — an overview of state secondary CTE funding models across all states and the District of Columbia. It also serves as a “one-stop shop” for those interested in conducting state-by-state comparisons of state secondary CTE funding models and related factors.

The findings build on baseline research conducted in 2014 by RTI International, with the support of Advance CTE, on behalf of the U.S. Department of Education, and provide insights into current national trends in state secondary CTE funding. In addition, the site includes a compilation of state-by-state funding models and their related descriptions and allocations, as well as state case studies of three approaches to the categorical funding model. This work was generously supported by the Walton Family Foundation.
